Dog Vaccination

Keep your dog healthy and protected from harmful diseases

There are a number of serious canine diseases that can be fatal even with treatment. It is possible to give your dog protection against these diseases by having a planned vaccination schedule.

Diseases you need to vaccinate against

Parvovirus: Causes severe diarrhoea that requires prolonged intensive care for treatment. Can be fatal.

Distemper: Causes eye and nasal discharge, coughing, vomiting and diarrhoea, progressing to brain involvement causing seizures. Normally fatal.

Hepatitis: Causes vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain and liver failure. Often fatal.

Canine cough (CC): Also known as kennel cough. Canine cough is spread by close contact and airborne transmission. The components that can be vaccinated against are:

  • Parainfluenza and adenovirus: A viral disease causing a nasty cough.
  • Bordetella bronchiseptica: Bacteria causing a harsh, dry cough and lethargy.

Vaccine types

C3 vaccine: Protects against parvovirus, distemper and hepatitis.

CC vaccine: Protects against the components of canine cough.

C5 vaccine: Is a combination of C3 + CC and is the minimum requirement for most boarding kennels. We strongly recommend a C5 vaccination for all dogs due to the frequency that we see dogs with canine cough in this area.
